Thanks Facebook!

Last night I got to have a few glasses of wine with some very dear friends from college.  Over the years we had lost touch with each other-which I guess happens when you have kids and jobs and spouses and all that other stuff we never considered when we were in the dorm.

I have connected with tons of people from my past through facebook but re-connecting with these two women was great fun-and ironic because one lives about 4 miles from me and the other teaches at my son’s former middle school.

KM
This is K and I. She lived next door to me in the dorm. She introduced me to the girls I ended up moving off campus to live with. She ended up going back home to school and ended up getting her masters with my own real life sister-never knew that until last night.

MS
This is S and I. She lived on the other side of K. We stayed in touch for a few years after we came home from college. Funny not a one of us graduated from WKU. I think that we had to much fun and had to come back to the “ville” where our parents could keep better track of us.

The only person missing from this party is T. She lives in Ohio and none of us have talked to her in years. I saw her last. We all miss her still.

And I should mention that even though the three of us have some serious big 80’s hair. T beat us all. She had rock star hair band hair…David Coverdale would have been jealous.

“Blink”

When I was taking pictures of the secret garden at church yesterday, I kept thinking of an episode of Dr. Who.

Lastnight when I was showing the pictures to the spouselet, he said the same thing.

Here is atrailer for the episode in question:

And this is why it reminded us of it:

The Church

This weekend, I knew there would be an event at our church and I was hoping to get some shots of the building at dusk with all the interior lights on.  Those would be beautiful shots to use on the church site and other print media (I really don’t want to use the word “marketing” in conjunction with God).

However….
The weather did not cooperate.
Main Church Building
Bit of a storm rolling in.

I love this.
Cherub
In between the chapel and the sanctuary there is a small secret garden with a water feature-great place to pray or meditate and you can share the space with this precious little cherub. (more about him in another post).

And finally, where I grew up…
The Chapel
This is the building where I was christened, confirmed and married (the first time)-most of my growin’ up happened behind that red door. It is a very special place and I am so glad that the congregation takes steps to preserve it and its rich history.

I took 78 something pictures, not all of them worth viewing and not a one was the shot I went to get. Another day. The rain started soon after I took the first image and didn’t stop until sometime this morning.

With This Ring

“I thee wed”
(until I lose about 30 lbs and you can wear it around your pointer finger while I play soccer)

Two Rings

Looks like it is time for some ring resize.

I wish that were MY ring falling off, but still happy that he has done so well, the booger.

Ever Drawing Near…

j0438321

I only had a good month off soccer.
Last Friday marked the “official” begining of the 14 yr olds high school soccer career.  We found out which team, if any, he made.  He was honestly suprised that he made both the Freshman Team AND the Junior Varsity Team.

Mama is so very proud.

I also realize that mama is so very exhausted.

This school does not mess around, from now until school starts in August we have practice twice a day Monday-Friday and from 8-10 on Saturday.  And when I say WE, I mean the both of us, because the practices are only 2 hours long, that is hardly enough time to get anything done other than a quick trip to the grocery.

I have designated the first practice of the day as my “work out” and walk the track while the kids are on the field. Hopefully, I can plan for blog posts and other life stuff during the second.

School starts in 3 weeks!

The Countdown Begins…

Contacts

We promised the 14 yr old that he could get contacts before he started high school.  I seriously thought I had longer.  This is proof that his freshman year is right around the corner.

Livestrong Strikes Again

I used the daily plate back in January to log all of my food and exercise and it was so very successful. Since then I have fallen way off the weight loss wagon and need serious intervention.

Luckily for me, Livestrong (Yo’ Lance, you rock) now has a blackberry app. I can log all my food and exercise on the go, which has been my biggest issue since soccer started this spring.

Happy Blog-o-versary

Wow.

I am so overwhelmed with summer I almost missed my blog-o-versary with a whopping 50 minutes left to celebrate.

I will tell myself that I must have known it on some level, that justifies the mini cheese cake I had a BD’s for dinner tonight!

I have great things instore for this next year, school just has to start first ;)
