The Difference a Year Can Make.

This time last year Sunny and I were preparing for our wedding and had to measure every part of our bodies to order wedding garb from India.  I had put it off as long as possible because I just wasn’t losing the weight light I felt I should.  Actually, when we returned from Iowa (making wedding arrangements) my Weight Watchers plan went straight out the window.

I was not enjoying any part of the wedding process because I was so obsessed about my weight.  I finally was able to let go of being a wedding barbie (because that was beyond unrealistic).  I started WW again in January and did ok for a bit, but the numbers hadn’t changed at all in 3 months.  Enter Chantel Hobbs!  I am back on track and feeling great.  And the numbers are starting to show it:

  July 2007 January 2–8 July 2008
Arm 14.5 15 14
Bust 44 44 43
Chest 39 40.5 39
Waist 43 44.5 40.5
Hips 41 44 42
Thigh 23.3 24 23
Weight 187 200 183

As a part of the 16 week commitment to changing your life I get to weigh myself and measure various parts weekly.  So that even if the scale doesn’t show a change the tape should.  The biggest thing for me now is knowing that my waiste measurement is FINALLY smaller than my hip measurement and THAT is huge because of health risks involved.

What an Inspiration!

Not only is this woman an incredible artist and craftsperson (I also hear she throws one  heck of a retreat)-she has a rockin’ new body…and as far as I can tell she didn’t get any parts cut off to get there either!

Go check her out at simply me.

I hope to will be posting something similar one day myself.

Chantel Hobbs

This woman is kickin’ my rear end and I have never even met her!

Chantel Hobbs is an amazing woman with a very inspirational story for those of us with a weight issue.  She lost over 200lbs  and has kept it off for several years despite stress AND childbirth in her life.  For me personally the unexpected childbirth thing would send me straight in to a super size big mac!  She has been on Oprah (and I have forgiven her for that), on the Today show AND on the cover of People (which at my parents house is HUGE).

The swift kicks in the pants aren’t because of any of those things…they are because the woman went and wrote a book.  Then the bookstore down the road went and ordered it.  And I just happened to go shopping in there and saw the blasted thing-it has Chartreuse on the cover-and I don’t know why, but I LOVE that green!  So, I bought it.  And then I started reading it.

That reading part wasn’t so bad, it was the talk of change and commitment to your health that got me.  I had to (ok bad choice of words)…I CHOSE to write down all my excuses for not working out or valuing my health in the past.  And that isn’t all…I agreed to myself-COMMITTED (and told my husband) that for the next month, I am going to the Y for 30 minutes of cardio 5 days a week (AT LEAST).

Actually, I just got home from the Y-32 minutes of cardio on a upright stationary bike 10.51 miles.  It was awesome.  I even broke a sweat and didn’t whine about it.  Progress.

The book is Never Say Diet and if you are interested in changing the way you feel and feel about your body, I strongly recommend it-She also has a program on-line at her website, although, I haven’t tried it so I am not up for recommending it.
